The ancient Roman necropolis of the Alyscans had become by the middle ages a hallowed site and was described in the Pilgrim’s Guide as the point where pilgrims travelling the Toulouse Road to Santiago de Compostela congregated before beginning their journey. The Alyscans page is here.
